[Press Release] Chef Paul Virant Launches Jar Sessions

A Collaboration Between Virant and Midwest Farmers, Jar Sessions Brings Pickled and Preserved Products to Home Kitchens

Western Springs, Illinois, January 23, 2017 -- Chef Paul Virant has announced his latest venture: Jar Sessions, a locally produced, small-batch line of pickled and preserved products.

Known for his contemporary Midwestern cuisine that emphasizes canned and preserved ingredients, Virant notes, "With the introduction of Jar Sessions, home cooks can now easily use and enjoy some of my most-loved recipes in their own kitchens." Virant is the executive chef and owner of Vie (Western Springs) and Vistro (Hinsdale) and author of the cookbook "The Preservation Kitchen."

This year's jars include sweet corn chow chow, pickled cherry tomatoes and smoked apple butter. Staying true to his longstanding philosophy of cooking with local, seasonal ingredients, Virant collaborated with Midwest farmers to create Jar Sessions, sourcing ingredients from area farms.

The jars currently are available for sale for $12 each at Vie and Vistro. Online ordering soon will be available at jarsessions.com. For updates and ideas on how to use Jar Sessions in the kitchen and behind the bar, visit paulvirant.com/jarsessions.
